Community celebrates the second newly-built school sponsored by the MoneyGram Foundation

DANANG, Vietnam, Aug. 4, 2015/PRNewswire/ -- MoneyGram (NASDAQ: MGI), a global provider of innovative money transfer and payment services, dedicated a two-classroom kindergarten in the Tay Giang District in the Quang Nam Province last week through the MoneyGram Foundation, making it the second sponsorship of a school of this type. MoneyGram officials were joined by two of MoneyGram's agent collaborators in Vietnam. The kindergarten was built by Children of Vietnam, a leading U.S. non-profit organization with local offices focused on providing educational services to children.

The kindergarten was opened with an inaugural ceremony on July 28, 2015, attended by the local community, representatives from MoneyGram and Children of Vietnam, and two of MoneyGram's agents in Vietnam - DongA Bank and Saigon Bank.

"The MoneyGram Foundation is focused on giving back to the communities of people around the world who rely on our money transfer services. We will continue to build our network in this country as Vietnam is a leading recipient of global remittances. MoneyGram is committed to supporting programs that can reach those communities that are in need of educational resources and access," said Yogesh Sangle, MoneyGram's senior regional director for Asia. "We are proud to work with Children of Vietnam to build a kindergarten that will provide access to education for hundreds of children for years to come."

The kindergarten is called Alua Kindergarten and is located next to another kindergarten sponsored by the MoneyGram Foundation- Kxeng Kindergarten, which opened last year. The two buildings can accommodate up to 50 children each school year and provide the students a learning environment equipped with ceiling fans, lighting, electrical system, water system, indoor toilets, washroom, and an awning for shade. The two kindergartens are currently the only educational facilities for children between ages 3-6 serving the Tay Giang community.

The MoneyGram Foundation is a private, grant making foundation focused solely on improving the access and quality of education for children around the world.
