MoneyGram and Habitat for Humanity Philippines inaugurate another batch of two newly built classrooms in the Philippines

Capiz, Philippines (March 17th, 2016) - MoneyGram (NASDAQ: MGI), a global provider of innovative money transfer services, today inaugurates the turnover of two units of single classroom buildings in the province of Capiz in the Visayas region of Philippines. This is a continued effort of the MoneyGram Foundation for the Philippines.

These single-classroom structures were built in Dumalag and Tapaz towns in Capiz, which are approximately 17 km apart, and will be utilized by the Sta. Cruz Elementary School and Candelaria National High School respectively. The aforesaid towns are low income municipalities in the region, and are much posed to receive support from private institutions to augment their classroom units for their constituents.

The turnover rites in Sta. Cruz Elementary School in Dumalag, Capiz, were witnessed by Alex Lim, Country Manager and Joseph Ryan Consul, Sr. Marketing Manager for MoneyGram together with the Department of Education Officials, local government representatives, and Habitat for Humanity Philippines' representatives headed by their Managing Director and CEO, Charlie Ayco.

Ayco advised that the two classroom buildings donated by MoneyGram  are specially built and designed to serve not only as educational facilities, but can also serve as emergency evacuation centers for families displaced by natural calamities, such as typhoons. "Families in Capiz have been affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda and with the generosity of MoneyGram, we have been able to build back better structures for these families, like the Noah's Ark classrooms, which are designed to be disaster-resilient" - said Ayco. "At Habitat, we don't simply want to build these families a home, we want to build holistic communities and transform lives," he added.

Alex Lim, also pointed out that "the completion of the two single-classroom buildings marks another key milestone of MoneyGram Foundation's partnership with Habitat. This activity, alongside the two classroom structures MoneyGram donated in Bohol last November 2015, exemplifies our company's thrust and commitment in transforming the lives of the communities and customers we serve by providing them with meaningful access to education. We are optimistic that these structures will stand the test of time, and will serve as a momentous facility in enriching the lives of children through education".

Apart from the Dept. of Education and representatives from the local government, MoneyGram and Habitat representatives were also joined by guests from the local barangay, parents and students, and were also treated with sumptuous local delicacies and a dance performance from the Sta. Cruz students.
